Jennifer Cruden - About

Being a self-taught artist, having a passion for painting with oils, both in the studio as well as the challenge of painting outdoors on location, en plein aire, including aerial seacapes undertaken in resin. Beginning her journey as an artist many years ago, has been extremely fortunate in having her paintings purchased by many, not just from New Zealand, but also around the world, including corporate hospitals, board rooms, houses in the Hamptons, penthouses and more.

Paintings begin without a fixed plan. Instead, building each painting, allowing layers to develop naturally. Some areas are soft and barely there, others more expressive and bold—creating a balance between calm and movement. Jennifer paints directly from the landscape as well as from memory. Building layers that reflect not just what is seen, but a sense of stillness. Intending to take the viewer to places prior to the intrusion of man, providing a sense of calm away from today's busy world.

Loving nature, the animals, and the wildlife around us, especially in beautiful New Zealand, listening to and watching the tides roll in and out may seem mundane to others, however, it is part of becoming one with the world around us and the miraculous planet we have been given the privilege to enjoy and look after.

Each studio piece is created slowly and traditionally, with attention to detail and a focus on quality materials.  Art inspired by the natural world.  The paintings are designed to bring a sense of calm and peace into your home — offering tranquility in an otherwise busy world.

Artist professional quality oil paints are used and care is taken in the layering process, allowing each piece to develop naturally over time.
